The distribution of the fluid by using a piping system is important for the daily life. Head loss is a phenomenon of pressure losses that occurs in the pipe flow. Major losses are head loss that occur due to friction with the pipe wall, while minor losses due to piping components. The study was conducted to analyze head loss in pipe flow. Measurement of pressure loss is done by an open mercury manometer. Components to be tested for major losses; PVC 1” pipe dimension, PVC ¾" pipe dimension, steel 1 " pipe dimension, steel ¾" pipe dimension, while for minor losses gate valve, ball valve and pipe elbow 90o. The results of data analysis results show the value of the coefficient of friction or the coefficient of minor losses occurring PVC pipe 1" is 0.0249, PVC pipe ¾" 0.0198, steel pipe 1" 0.0604, steel pipe ¾ " 0.0655, gate valve 0.226, ball valve 0.112, and pipe elbow 90o 0.434. |
