A stable balance is needed between awareness about the future and developments in several branches of science and technology. We cannot do much to slow down advancements in science and technology, but we can increase growth in awareness about the future. With greater awareness, there is a greater possibility of directing developments in science and technology to ensure continued existence for the human race. The author is of the opinion that it is extremely important for higher institutions in Indonesia to actively participate in anticipating what will be needed in the future.
