Liberation theology is the rediscovery of a biblical theme long neglected by the church. Liberation theologians come from Latin America, but have mostly studies in Europe and North America and are thus by no means an isolated theological movement. They stand in a line with developments elsewhere, for example with the tendency to view. Christ once again as a man, "from below", with the interest in salvation history and eschatology, and with the Social Gospel movement of the 1950's, Conversely, their discoveries have influenced other contemporary Christian traditions, including traditional evangelicalism.
