National commitment to optimize the use of domestic based defense technology is one of the recent policy breakthrough that has been undertaken by the government. This self reliance policy is certainly important to minimize the country's dependency towards import technology on one hand, and to speed the national technological and industrial development capability on the other hand. The paper argued that, apart from the importance of development of land military technological development, concern on the development of technologies in the field of maritime and aerospace are relatively lag behind. For this reason, a strong future commitment towards the technological development in the areas maritime and aerospace cannot be avoided.
