The teach ing envi ronment is under going a major shift as more and more mar keting pro grams are offer ing classes either par - tially (Web enabled) or totally (Web exclu sive) online. This shift is due to ris ing costs in edu cation, enrollment man age - ment issues, and an evo lu tion in the use of dis tance learn ing. This arti cle first describes this evo lu tion in dis tance learn ing and the progress into online classes. Next, based on their online mar keting class expe ri ences, the authors offer guide - lines for other mar keting fac ulty pre paring to teach online. The focus is how mar keting edu cators can use the online technology to pro vide a better learn ing expe rience for their stu - dents. Con cerns mar keting instruc tors may have with teach - ing online courses are dis cussed.
