Abstract
The relationship between academic libraries and campus
computing centers is an issue that has engaged both librarians and
information technology professionals over the past two decades. This
article chronicles and reports the numerous challenges in conceiving
and constructing an integrated information service organization known
today as ACIS–Anderson Computing and Information Service. This
achievement required the combination of human and technical resources,
spanning over a decade since initial dialog and conceptualization
began in 1985. Central to the operational integrity and curricular flexibility of ACIS is an understanding of the human interaction and
cooperation that was the basis for its creation and is its most important
asset.
