Isi artikelFilm is recognized as a unique and powerful mass medium and art form. As a form of expression the motion picture is similar to other artistic media. Film employs the compositional elements of the visual arts: line, form, mass, volume and texture. Given that many Indonesia films that have been shown in Malaysia it would be interesting to explore who watches these film and why. Through scientific methods, this research aims to find the motivation of audience, especially those that relate to the information, personal, entertainment and social aspects, and how the audience appreciate Indonesia films. A survey of 125 undergraduate students of the School of Communication, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) found that 38% of them watch Indonesians films. The study found that language is an influencing factor as most of those who watch Indonesia film are Malays and male youth. The most popular movie was "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta". From the data analysis, the main motive for watching Indonesian films is for relaxation and entertainment. Overall, respondents have a high level of motivations, even for information, personal, entertainment and social factors.
