This research aims to investigate the influence of superior support and job satisfaction towards the employee’s performance in PT. Columbia Perdana partially and simultaneously. The chosen variables were based on Simanjuntak’s theory (2001) which stated that an employee’s performance is determined by the employee’s quality and ability (such as education and motivation), medium of support (such as employee welfare and working environment), and other means (such as government regulations and management industrial relations). As the basis of this research, the researcher refers to Path-Goal theory by House (1971) and Leader-Member Exchange theory by Dansereau et al. (1975) to hold up the first independent variable – superior’s support. Two-Factor theory by Herzberg (1967) and Job Satisfaction theory by Robbins (1996) are used to support the second independent variable, job satisfaction. Lastly, Performance theory by Dessler (1990) is used to support the dependent variable, i.e. employee’s performance. The sampling technique used is judgmental sampling. Samples were taken from a total of 176 people who hold status as permanent employee at the head office within Sales and Marketing, HR Management, Finance and Accounting, Operation, Prima Finance as well as Communication and Information Technology division. Data was collected using a survey method and then analyzed using Windows SPSS 19.0., whereby all variables are measured descriptively with Likert scale. As statistical analysis method, the researcher used correlation and multiple regression analysis. The correlation analysis shows that each independent variable has a positive and significant relation with the dependent variable. While t-test and f-test from multiple regression analysis show that both independent variables positively affected the dependent variable partially and simultaneously. Based on the findings, the researcher suggests reviews to be carried out by the company for its decision making process and salary structure in order to strengthen superior support, increase job satisfaction level and improve employee’s performance. |
