Abstract
In this era of globalization, the development of human and computer interaction can be said to be growing very rapidly. Human Computer Interaction always associated with reading text on-screen that appear on the screen. Someone will be slower to read text on-screen that appear on computer screen about 20%-30% compared with the reading in hardcopy, (Gould dan Grischkowksy, 1984, Wilkinson dan Robinshaw, 1987, Harpster, 1989 pada Siswanto dan Gustomo, 2001). Therefore, the purpose of this research was to determine the combination of text which can help readers to read faster and comfort to read. The comfortable text based on the terms of legibility. The mean of Legibility is the degree to which individual letters can be distinguished from each other. The basis of this reseacrh is the response time are obtained from 100 office workers for each combination of text. The based of the combination are four factors, font type san serif, font size, spacing, and background color combination. The respon time is obtained by software program called Fisura Quicklick, is game program look for the word. Processing data was done by ANOVA test, to determine which factors have significant effect, next step by One-Way ANOVA test and T-Test, determine the level of the factors which have significant influence and Clustering system is to find the smallest of the factors and level factors. The final solution of this research will indicated the best combination based on the response time.
