Abstract
Warranty is an agreement between producer and consumer, where the producers are willing to do the repair and replacement of all components that were damaged during the warranty period. For manufacturers, product sales with the provision of warranty on the defective component will cause an additional costs for warranty service are referred to as the cost of the warranty. The cost incurred depends on the warranty policy set by the company as well as the distribution patterns of component damage. Warranty expenses is related to the selling price. Therefore, it is very important for manufacturers to make an estimate of warranty costs accurately. The research of this final task, trying to evaluate and estimation warranty costs of washing machines product E-S model sold by PT. XYZ. Warranty policy provided by the company is a one-dimensional warranty policy, where washing machines are the product warranty for 1.5 years, and all repair and replacement costs respectively - each faulty component will be borne by the company as well as each component is guaranteed based on the subsequent failure during warranty period. The method used in determination product is arranted by the component approach.The results of this study indicate that there are 11 components of products that contribute to a washing machine costs in calculating the estimated cost of the warranty. In addition, at the end of the study sought to compare the cost of the warranty issued by the company, amounting to IDR 8,894 and estimated warranty costs are optimal for your washing machine E-S model of IDR 4,294. Estimated warranty costs are provided more optimal than the calculation of warranty costs incurred by the company, with the difference in cost of IDR 4,600. This suggests that the re-calculation PT.XYZ need to consider the cost of the warranty set for the sale of products so that the E-S model washing machine to get the optimal warranty costs to increase corporate profits.
