Teh purpose of the study was to see whether the general objetives test of the structured objectives test could substitute the essay test. To achieve this goal the three form test of calculus i (PEMA 4108) were tested to two groups of students from mathematics Education of Jakarta State University (UNJ). The first foup was consisted of 38 Studen and the second group was 33 students the general objectives test and the essay test were given to the first froup; the structured objectives test and essay test were given to the second group the achievement scores of 50 and up were analyzed. in the first group, there were 16 students achieved those scores for the general objectives test and 16 students for the essay test. Meanwhile in the second group there were 15 students for the general objectives test and 15 students for the essay test. Based on the statistical analysed, the first group showed second group indicated that there was no significant difference between the structured test can't substitute the essay test, while the structured test can subtitute the essay test.
