This paper is written based on the result of observation on science teaching and learning in elementary school which mostly done verbally without the use of teaching media. Teaching science without the use of the teaching media and the environment will lead to the lower quality of outcome because the students learn mainly by memorizing rather than giving them opportunities to observe their own findings. The reasons of why the teachers do not use the teaching media inthe process of teaching and learning are partly because they consider the limited provisions of science kits. Moreover, they do not understand that the environment is the effective source of science teaching. Based on condition, this paper will present the importance of using the teaching media can be easily assessed from surroundings and from the wastes such as plastics and the wastes of the bottles of mineral water. A bottle of mineral water, for instance, can be used as a medium for explaining the characteristics of liquid. If the teaching and learning science at the elementary schools makes use the tools and the media, the quality of teaching and learning would be more effective and the students are motivated to learn. Thereby, they will be easier to understand the concepts of science. This type of teaching is in relation with the theory of learning by constructivism.
