Abstract
Incompatibility bottle specifications with their capping process make company's production lines productivity isn’t optimal, where there is still a percentage of defective product in capping process output is quite high. At this time, the company added an oil appropriation process to bottle before enter the capping process so that the percentage of defective product in that process can be minimized. However that process is still using a manual method, there are additional costs that must be paid by the company. Therefore, this research design a tool that can replace the existing manual tools previously. In designing and developing the toolconcept, Quality Function Deployment (QFD method is used to bring the best concept namely "A ToolWith Rod Cylinders And Acrylic Framework, PVC Pipe, And Bearing With Foam". That concept was selected because it has a better value selection criteriathan the other proposed concepts. In the process of making and testing tools, there are some changes inits constituent components in order to customize the tool more effective and efficient when implemented. From the tool’s testing trial found that the proposed tool is able to reduce the percentage of defective product in the capping process output from 3,91% to 1.82% when placed on a red bottle production line.The tool is also proposed to reduce the cost incurred by the company with the assumption that the tool used during the next 4 years, which savings that can occurred is Rp. 45.488.200 or 91,17%. In addition, the tool is also proposed to increase the profits earned by the company during the next 4 years amounting to 2.2% for its use in red bottle production line.
