I will limit my self to a brief description of a phenomenon which coul perhaps be perceived as a distortion of perversion of caring. What I have in mind is something which is distingushed from Volitional necessity. Being guided by volitional necessity is a form of being active becouse I am geverned in my action by something I really care about. this, However, could be contrasted with a phenomenon which perhaps does no occur in your work but i was wondering what you would say about it.
