| One of devices to support in a dress after finish is an ironing board. The need of ironing board becomes very significant in a household life, which is a pedestal in after finish of clothing, whether new to dry after washing or a crumpled / wrinkled due to storage of clothes that are too long. To know whether or not that kind of ironing board is in accordance with consumer’ desire, pre-research was done by introductory interviesw and observations. From the introductory interviews and observations, the result shows that today’s product of ironing board has not fulfilled consumers’ desire. Furthermore, the interview gives result of the hierarchy of consumers’ need which has 6 attributes. The attributes are : namely an ironing board that is nor easily degenerate, easier irinong large and small, facilitate access to electrical energy, paving the clothes easier, easier to hang clothing, as well as provide more flexibility in the legs moving. Based on those attributes, the ironing board is then redesigned. First step is to develop concepts in which the ergonomity of body posisition is the main factor that msut be met is a comfortable foot position / not sore when ironing to long. Other attribute’ fulfillment is adjusted to the concept of ergonomical shape of the foot. Each concept creates some alternatives that will be evaluated to choose the best alternative concept. The final step of this thesis is the step of building prototypes with a new design with the reference product the old ioning board and an overview of the actual product design. |
