Rickettsioses are zoonotic diseases transmitted by arthropods, are endemic in Asia and are emerging in many other parts of the world. They are now recognized as one of the most common causes of fever in returned travellers. However, with their non-specific clinical manifestations, they are often diagnosed late, with potentially fatal results.
