Pleuroscopy, or medical thoracoscopy, is a minimally invasive procedure that provides a window into the pleural space. It enables biopsy of the parietal pleura under direct visual guidance, chest tube placement or pleurodesis. In this article, the indications, contraindications and complications of pleuroscopy will be discussed, together with its role in the pulmonologist's armamentarium.
