Abstract
The post war saw the emergence of sports law as a separate entity in addressing legal issues peculiar to sports. Sports transcend cultural and racial barriers due to the enormous economic, social and political leverage it has in most countries. This phenomenon has complemented in meeting the many aspirations of the United Nations which recognises the role of sports in addressing issues such as inequality, poverty, universal education, promoting peace and
development, among others. However in its pursuit, it faces obstacles in realising these aims notably the human rights aspect of a specific classes of people who are disadvantaged in no small measure in sports. The object of the study is to evaluate the social barriers in sports of these people which include, women, workers and racial minorities among others that form the disadvantaged social class. The inequalities which lead to marginalising certain groups has an effect in human rights and the
extent of abuse is matter of concern which may not be apparent prima facie but are inherent and
needs to be engaged. The methodological approach involves an in-depth study of current practices in selected regions and selected issues and examining literature of previous investigation in arriving at a logical supposition. The findings are intended to demonstrate a coherent argument and appropriate responses to conflicting points of views among diverse regions while appreciating the problems in a challenging world.
