Isi artikelLiquid propellant rocket has some advantages compared to solid propellant rocket. The consumption and ratio of fuel to oxydizer can be controlled to produce desired thrust. One of non-cryogenic propellant still in use today is a combination of kerosene and nitric acid. However, the use of this propellant leaves the problem due to its characters. Nitric acid is a very corrosive liquid and can cause a serious effect to the human body. The study on safety of static test of liquid propellant rocket has been done. In the static test, kerosene and nitric acid will be injected, mixed and burned in the product gas of combustion then will be blown out through the nozzle to the air to produce the thrust. The result of study devide rocket static test area into 5 zones. Zone 1, the most dangerous area, is the area within 3 m radius from static test bed and zone 2, 3-40 m, is the area affected by dangerous gases. Direct observation can be done in 50 m with bunker protection.
