Isi artikelIn May and July 2008, flight test of RX 320 rocket were successfully conducted. However there are still some areas need further improvements not only in design but also in fabrication process in order to have a lighter and easy-to-assembly nozzle by reducing its thickness. At nozzle's inlet, basically the nozzle case only receives pressure loads since it is mainly protected by graphite, while its divergent part receives mainly thermal loads. Therefore the nozzle analysisi can be adjusted to its main working loads. Simulations using the mentioned working loads result in stress distribution occurred in both parts of the nozzle i.e. convergent and divergent. Factor of safety as much 4 is obtained for convergent-nozzle part due to the pressure loads while factor of safety as much 1.7 is obtained for the divergent part due to the thermal loads. From the safety of factor values, it can be seen that the largest stress is occurred in the divergent part which is mainly due to the temperatures.
