Message or information is an important thing in communication. When the message or the information is wrong interpreted by the recipient of a message then consequently the main purpose of the message to be conveyed was not achieved. One of the tools to convey a message or information on the circumstances surrounding or environment is a display (Sutalaksana, 1979). Display convey information to humans through the senses possessed by humans as the recipients of the message or information. Visual displays are displays that use the senses of sight as the recipient of information (Sutalaksana, 1979). In the transport sector one of the display required by users is the display road traffic signs. In relation to the importance of display as a means of channeling information, the authors conducted a study of text-shaped sign boards that are not effective on Jakarta primary arterial road. Research on boards signs that are not effectively using the assessment form which previously designed and based on preliminary research. Assessment against this sign viewed from the aspect of visibility, legibility and readibility. Taking samples for assessment of signs using Table Krejcie dam Morgan, in which sampling is intended to avoid invalid data. The study also contains the picture respondents' satisfaction with signs in Jakarta. Respondents who acts as a sample, will be distributed assessment form that is used to measure they satisfaction of road signs. A total of 100 sheets sheets assessment of the respondents will be distributed to support this research. The results of this research is Gatot Subroto Highway is a primary arterial road signs that have a board that is not the most effective compared to the road - the other primary arterial road, with a total of 34 pieces board signs. As for the assessment of the respondents note that some repsonden tend to feel quite satisfied with the signs - signs that exist today, but there are problems they experienced at a distance of clarity in reading the text on the sign board. They feel that to be able to read text that is on board with clear signs required close proximity ( ??10 m), where it should at long distances (> 30 m) the driver was able to read the text on the signs clearly. |
