Abstract
Manual materials handling activities often cause effects that can harm the body, caused by a too heavy workload. This study aims to provide recommendations load weight limits for workers, especially female workers, who belong to the productive age. In this study, conducted observations of the influence of factors such as task, the vertical distance and box size on consumption energy. The data was collected using the study sheet containing the identifying data and research data required in this study. Data collected in the form of data Heart Rate of 10 research subjects to 18 types of combinations of activities. For data processing, the average maximum of 10 subjects compared with the Heart Rate limits recommended by Dr. Lucien Brouha is 115 beats per minute to obtain a safe weight limits. Test Design of Experiment conducted to determine the effect of the factors that influence the research results and ANAVA test conducted to determine the level of the factors which significantly effect the results of the study. The value of consumption energy is the result of the transformation of the value of the Heart Rate. Based on the research results obtained by the weight limit recommendation for each combination of activities, which range from 12 kg to 14 kg. Design of Experiment test results showed that the factor task, vertical distance, and the interaction factor of task - vertical distance gave a significant effect on the average value of consumption energy. The result of ANAVA test showed that inter- factor level and treatment task between the level of vertical distance factor real influence on the factor study.
