On 22 April 1998 the government ha issued the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 1 of 1998 on the revision of the Bankruptcy Law (The State Courant of the Republic of Indonesia year 1998 No. 87 (UU Kepailitan)). This Governments Regulation was there after agreed by the Legislative Assembly (Dewan Perwakila rakyat) to become a law and there after legislated as Law No, 4 year 1998 on the Revision of the Law on Bankruptcy dated 22 April 1998. Anything, including the laws has of course a history taking into the account the continuity of time. The laws could be understood properly if its history is known. To know the history of these laws is not only to know origin of its creation, ut also to know the vision of life contained therein, its system and its principles. In that connection to understand the Bankruptcy Law it is required to examine the history since it was for the first time introduced until this day.
