Abstract
Bumiputera Life Insurance is one company that is engaged in protection investment. This kind of companies have been growing and developing in Indonesia excessively, so the company must create an advantage that is not only in terms of products but also creating the professionalism of its employees. In order to achieve that goal, the companies conduct a performance appraisal process that aim to seek advantages and disadvantages of their employees in order to be reviewed as training material and development. The performance evaluation of the present day is considered working, but as for the appraiser, it’s been difficult in conducting the appraisal because of the closed brotherhood created so that the assessment tended to be subjective.
To reduce the existing problems, then an appraisal method derived from many sources being created. In this research, data is collected using questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were completed by 39 respondents, while the interviews were conducted with the head of the human resources department. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, namely: appraisal to methods of assessment work sheet and readiness of employee to conduct the 360 degree appraisal. Results for distributing a questionnaire containing of 20 statements was processed using the averaging method with Microsoft Excel 2007 aid.
From the data processing can be seen that the current system has not yet described what they want, especially to the appraiser so that improvements are needed and also a setting of assessment standards. In addition, most employees are not willing to be judged by customers because they are not directly related to the customer. The results of this study is to design a new assessment form with the same aspects of assessment, namely: managerial skills, target, technical and administrative as well as professionalism and personality. Assessment form is composed of 3 parts: individual performance evaluation sheet, rating sheets of individual ability and the last is the proposed changes for employees. Hopefully the new scoring system can be used to reduce the subjective natue.
