Abstract
The role of the database is very important because it is very necessary in academic administration. Information can be obtained quickly if the underlying data has been stored in a database. Administrative activities of student affairs Faculty of Engineering,
Atma Jaya Catholic University in the case of data recapitulation are unsystematic well, that there is data recapitulation manually (file storage on a file or a rack) and a computer, so that causes difficulty in recapitalize the data and information search. Although it has been using computer but the computer does not have a database system that processes data recapitulation from the field of student affairs. Therefore, it needs a database system that can support data recapitulation which centralized and coordinated with the computer system for the needs of availability information in up to date.
Hence in this study the proposed design of information systems at student affairs’ database Faculty of Engineering Atma Jaya Catholic University Jakarta is given.
Information system design is done in the two studies that is the study itself and Rifky
Priyadi’s study, where the data has been collected by these two studies then be combined to design a database information system consisting of units of participation loans, scholarships, internships / practical work, special notes, letters of administration, fund administration, student activities, and alumni. This information system design is using Xampp 1.7.1 as database processing, Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 for web designing, programming language using PHP, and MySQL as database.
This research produced a web-based information system that can be accessed by three users including the secretariat of student affairs officer, Deputy Dekan III, and students.
Students and Vice Dean III can only view the data, while the secretariat staff can process the data (adding data, changing data, and delete data).
