Isi artikelBased on a programme of activities undertaken between January 2005 and June 2006, including a research project, TFPL has produced a white paper about the e-information job market and a roles framework. It suggests that the e-information job market reflects the development of new technologies but is driven by corporate imperatives resulting from the utilization of these technologies. These drivers fuel a need for e-information professionals who know how to deliver information for particular applications to communities familiar with the convenience of the services offered by Google and Amazon; and who are able to ensure that information supports organizational goals. The roles include an increase in ‘traditional’ information roles, as well as the creation of new employment opportunities. Current and emerging roles can be clustered into six role families and also categorized as back-office or frontoffice focused. This article reflects the content of the white paper and the findings of the research
