Isi artikelLaw 10/2008 on General Elections for Members of DPR, DPD, and DPRD has introduced a new model of electoral campaign. This new model arranges for a long duration of electoral campaign; and it has brought about a potential opportunity for the intimacy relations between political parties and voters. However, this will only be effective if both political parties and voters are willing to substantially change their electoral behaviour from conventional to rational ones. Political parties and their members should be able to develop themselves as market oriented candidates. At the same time, voters should be willing to make use the long duration of electoral campaign as a period to gather comprehensive information on the quality of program and capacity of the candidates. However, lack of experiences, unwillingness to adapt with the development needs of society, and the dominance of self-political interests have prevented the political parties to deal with efforts of making themselves as market oriented candidates. For such reason, the objective of the long duration of electoral campaign to substantially increase the quality relation between political parties and the society might not be effectively achieved.
