Isi artikelPolitical party has been an important institution in the democracy system. The role is to unify nation and to grow free and justice and brotherhood to form an united nation. In Indonesia, at the beginning political party was established as manifestation of awakening national union. In the New Order Era, the simplified three political parties was a pressure policy for the independency to speak, to gather and to express independency. Simplified political parties through party fusion has ignored the political reality in the society. Political reformation has supported the change of party system and corrected the old party policy that had positioned political party as unimportant political ornament. Then, 48 political parties has risen in 1999 election with a larger impact of the political system. The election results (in 1999 and 2004) have shown the need to make coalition within the government because there were no significant numbers of seat at DPR to form a strong government. Somehow, government coalition from number of political parties and fraction has an weak implication toward ineffectiveness of government due to the absent of accountability instead of coalition responsibility. In political elites behavior and political processes within political party has neither been conducive for the political education.
