Abstract
This research objective is to study the correlation between leadership towards employee engagement in PT. Ace Hardware Indonesia, Tbk. (AHI). In this research, the leadership variable is used as an independent variable, while employee engagement driver variable is used as the moderator variable and employee engagement variable is used as the dependent variable. The population used for this research is from two groups of store’s employees of AHI which are Artha Gading Mall and Puri Indah Mall store. The leader model used for this research is the store managers from both stores. This research used judgmental sampling which is a non probability sampling method. The sample is selected based on the researcher’s judgment. The correlation to this research is that writer carries out research on leadership level among managers. The samples are taken from employees with supervisor and staff manager level. The data collection method is done by interviewing the employees as well as spreading valid and reliable questioners. This research analyzes the data descriptively and statistically. The leadership factors of this research are personal capabilities, focus on results, and interpersonal skill. Generally, the leadership level of both store managers is good. And the same goes for engagement driver variable and employee engagement variable, this research shows most of employees on moderately engaged level. The statistical analysis tests three hypotheses. First, there is a significant impact (correlation) between the leadership and the employee engagement driver. Second, there is a positive impact between the employee engagement drivers and the employee engagement level so we can conclude that there is significant impact between leadership and employee engagement. Third, there is a linear correlation between the leadership variable (personal capabilities, focus on result, and interpersonal skill) from each leader. As the result of this research, the researcher recommends to carry out job evaluation, provides room for ideas and positive creativities as well as conduct more team interaction programs such as training, outing and other informal activites.
