Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze whether applying correct strategy on a bank could improve financial performance and afford competitiveness on the market or not. Besides that, this study is also to analyze whether performance improvement could affect market perception, competitiveness, stock price and capitalization value in stock market. Next, this study is also intended to analyze whether changes in corporate culture could affect financial performance of a bank so that competitiveness could be improved. In order to analyze the variables, this study use published annual report and any data which published on bank’s website. Analysis performed on annual report and it’s progress from 2005 until 2008, and also bank’s strategy determination to overcome deteriorate financial performance in 2005 and regain customer trust, investor and other takeholder to improve competitiveness. This study used literature research method to analyze the data from Bank “X“, Bank “R” and Bank “C”. This study conclude that correct strategy determination along with changes and implementation on vision, mission and new corporateculture, could improve financial performance of a bank significantly and improve competitiveness against competitor. By improving financial performance, investor will give positive sentiment which is visible from increasing stock price and stock capitalization.
