Isi artikelThe Balanced Scorecard (BSC) concept translates vision, mission, and strategy of an organization into a comprehensive performance management system that enacts a framework for a strategic measurement and management system. The BSC model includes four perspectives in balance, namely financial, customer, internal business process, and learning and growth perspectives. The BSC is aimed to answer the main weakness of traditional management process, especially in connecting long-term strategy with company's operational activities. This study is a case study at Bank Jatim. The main research question is how the BSC model can be used to develop a strategy-based performance management system that enables the company to enhance its performance significantly. The result showed that Bank Jatim was attempting to translate its vision and mission into strategic objectives. Unfortunately those objectives did not show a clear cause-and-effect relationship, and therefore, it increased a potential risk of strategy implementation failures. Using the BSC, it is expected that Bank Jatim has more useful and holistic model for strategy-based performance management system.
