This study aims at exploring the impact of Christianity on Christians’ work behaviors and attitudes. There are three objectives. The first objective is to define Christianity, which is the Christian Values. The second objective is to understand the impact of Christianity on work. The third objective is to find out the difficulties faced by Christian workers due to their Christian status. In-depth interviews were conducted with 17 respondents – 6 males and 11 females. It was found that Christianity is defined as the belief to God. To Christians, the purposes of work were mainly 1) to earn for livings and 2) to glorify God through their “Witness”. Although Christian workers were hardworking people with a high ethical standard, they faced many conflicts and struggles between work and their belief because there were many unethical issues in work. Some interesting findings on conflict were found. Besides, human conflicts, boss and supervisors’ unethical requests and the imbalance of life (work-life balance) were the three major difficulties Christians faced in their work. Implication for management, limitations of this study and recommendations for further study are discussed thereafter. |
