Isi artikelThe local compilation environment (LCE) supports object-based, multilanguage-based and reliable distributed computing over the Internet, which may include wireless connections. It also supports the notion of component software engineering (CSE), which means constructing programs from existing software modules or parts created by different domain experts and vendors. By nature, a CSE-based program is composite and would not work properly without support from local compilation, which employs dynamic compilation that differs from the Java JIT (just in time) compilation approach. In the LCE, data interoperability among composite program objects is supported. The two LCE foundation constituents, the coordinator and the local compilation process, are discussed, and test data from the prototype is presented. In particular, the data for the LCE notion of reliability by object mobility will be discussed in more detail. Results from experiments indicate that the novel local compilation paradigm is indeed an effective solution.
