Abstract
Radioactive material is dangerous to human being and also environment. Transportation of radioactive material have to be controlled by all state, to ensure that this activity do not caused damage to the environment. Regulation is one of the way to protect and control transportation of radioactive material by sea. There are many sources of marine pollution such as pollution from land based sources, activities in the area, and pollution from ship. Indonesia as one of the state using radioactive material like nuclear material for industry, agriculture and research, have the responsibility to protect marine environment from transportation of this hazardous material. Convention on the Law of the Sea especially Part XII is the important part to regulate the protection of marine environment. There are also some others convention such as Convention on Nuclear Safety, and Basel Convention on Hazardous Waste that can be applied to transportation oh radioactive material. This paper will talk about how to protect marine pollution from transportation of radioactive substances.
