Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelagic State with over 17,508 islands, and has vary in marine diversity. Coral reef is one of marine diversity which is important to the ecosystem, and Indonesia is one of the Coral Triangle Initiative Countries (CTI). On National Profile of Indonesia stated that: “As a world center of coral diversity (500 species), with 81,000 km of coastline and 5.8 million km2 of marine area, Indonesia's important marine resources represent a significant management challenge to achieve sustainable levels of development.” Kepulauan Seribu or Thousand Islands is one of Marine conservation Park which is located near Jakarta. Community in this island have had participated to protect and cultivation coral reefs. This paper will talk about Indonesian regulation to protect Coral reefs, and public participation to protect marine environment in Kepulauan Seribu.
