Lillian Ng, the writer of Silver Sister, was born in Singapore in a decent Chinese family. When she was young, everybody knew her as Ng Cheng Chye. Her father was a traditional Chinese man and a tutor in classical Chinese. Her parents were from Shantou, Mainland China. Before living in Singapore, her parents lived in China. Her moving to Singapore was in order to escape the Japanese invasion in the 1930s. After a traditional Chinese upbringing, Lillian studied medicine, majoring in obstetrics and gynecology. Then, she lived and practiced in London for eight years, and moved to Australia in 1972. Now, she lives in Sydney with her daughter. |
