Abstract
Belief in a just world (BJW) is defined by Lerner (1980) as a psychological concept for explaining the fairness in the world. Although Dalbert had constructed the BJW scale, as Carmona (1998), Frey (2005), Whatley (1992) and Jasso (2005) have suggested, the concept of justice, as well as the score interpretation may differ from one culture to another. This paper reports the development of Indonesian BJW scale construction based on Lerner and Dalbert’s BJW theory. From the results, the scale has an Alpha Cronbach of 0.71. The construct validity is obtained with confirmatory factor analysis, and the construct validity correlation coefficients are 0.42 (with Dalbert’s BJW) and -0.37 (with belief in unjust world scale).
