Abstract
This study aimed to determine the combination of serif typeface, font size, space size, and the contrast of font color and background that can provide the best reading ability of Indonesian on-screen text with time response criteria. The best combination obtained in this study can be used in making a website. Implementation of the best combinations obtained in this study is limited to office workers only.
The data were collected using software specifically designed for this study. Equipment used in this study is the laptop and mouse. Samples taken as many as 100 people office worker who is domiciled in Jakarta. Data taken in the form of identity data, response time data, and subjective assessment data. Data processing was performed using Minitab 14 software and SPSS 17 software. Test was used in data processing is ANOVA test and after ANOVA test. Based on the results of collecting and processing data, the best combination based on time response criteria is the typeface Courier New, font size 12 pt, line spacing 1.5, and the contrast of font color black and white background. While the best combination based on subjective criteria is Georgia typeface, font size 12 pt, space size 2, and the contrast of font color black and
white background.
