This paper arises from a long-term research and development project which operated throughout the mid-Nineties and led to a model of support for teacher-led school improvement. The model is normally used within an awardbearing context in which schools enter into partnership with higher education institutions (HEIs) to provide teachers with the means to engage in systematic development work.
