Isi artikel
As part of an investigation of student perceptions of their teaching and learning experiences we used a rapid response ‘learning audit’ with 3,000 secondary students in 12 secondary schools. The audit considered six aspects of teaching and learning – environment, challenge, learning style, teaching style, relationships and the whole curriculum. The cohort were asked to rate whether listed characteristics were ‘usually’, ‘sometimes’ or ‘rarely’ true of their experience in subjects chosen by their schools. This enabled us to provide reports which would be helpful for school based professional development but fortuitously it provided comparable data for similar sized groups in the three core subjects (about 500 responses each for Maths, English, and Science) and smaller groups of between 150 and 250 responses for other Geography, History, Modern Languages, RE, Art and Craft technology.
