In Indonesia, breast cancer is rated number one among other types of cancers in women with estimate incidence of 26.1 per 100.000 women. According to incidence, post-menopausal women have higher incidence than pre menopausal. This is caused by a few factors, such as obesity. The latest journals show there is a relationship between obesity and breast cancer in connection with leptin. In obese and post-menopausal women, leptin induce the production of estrogen by increasing the activity of aromatase which promotes cancer cell proliferation. This study literature has purpose to find correlation between leptin in obese and postt menopausal woman with risk factor of breast cancer, leptin mechanism to breast cancer and to find level serum leptin which increasing risk factor of breast cancer. In addition, leptin also plays a part cancer cell's angiogenesis by increasing Vascular Endotelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and its receptor. Leptin also increase activation of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), HER2 (Human Epidermal Receptor 2), which is specific for breast cancer. Its activity increases due to the production of leptin and increases breast cancer risk factor in obese post menopausal by influence development of breast cancer. There is no specific article research about serum level peptin in normal post menopause woman as control and obese woman with breast cancer as sample. Then this study literature conclude that leptin in obesity and post menopausal woman increase risk factor of breast cancer because correlation between leptin signaling pathway and development of breast cancer.
