This novel is firstly published in Brazil in 1992 by international best selling author of The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho. It is full of enchanting events that are impossible to happen in reality. Also it is filled with many religious teachings. Once the readers read it, then they want to read it more and more in order to know what sequences will happen next. The Valkyries is nominated for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in 1998 (Dublin City Public Libraries, 2007).
