Writing has always been regarded as an important skill that a learner has to cope with in teaching and learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Since people have realized the importance of this skill, nowadays students are exposed to a composition in early age so that it will be easier for them to acquire this skill. Therefore, many teachers would overcome this problem by asking their students to use dictionary to assist them especially in writing skill. Writing is not merely a vocabulary composing, it also requires the students to be able to express their ideas in the right words. The problem is, most students do not have the capability in doing that. They have the tendency to open their dictionary to assist them in writing, and then translate directly from their first language (Bahasa Indonesia) to English, so I would like to see whether it is better to use dictionary assistance in writing a composition or not. |
