Some researches show that human capital skills is a concept that complete the IPK as one of components of the outcome of teaching-learning process (academic achievement) in higher education. By IPK and three skills of human capital skills, undergraduate students can optimally participate in the change of worldlife. Some researches also show that approach to learning is a main component that influence academic achievement. The objective of this research is to get the description of the approach to learning among students in higher education in Jakarta, in order to get information to evaluate the teaching-learning process. Respondents are students from four universities in Jakarta. A scale is used as an instrument for data collection. The result shows that most of students use all types of approach to learning (surface, deep, and achieving approach). Those who use deep approach as a dominant approach to learning has better academic achievement, especially in human capital skills rather than those who use surface approach. Teaching-learning processes in higher education have to encourage/facilitate students to use deep approach as a dominant approach to learning.
