Isi artikelThe Causal Dimension Scale II (CDS II) is a conceptually important instrument for attribution research as it taps directly the subjects' own views of the dimensions underlying their causal descriptions. However, this research based on the responses of 167 Hong Kong tertiary students to the CDS II indicates that the internal consistency reliability of the External Control scale is of doubtful adequacy and that the best fitting model combines the Locus and Personal Control scales. It is suggested that this latter finding may be due to cultural differences in causal attributions rather than a failing of the CDS II itself.
