Information literacy is knowing when and why some one need information, where to find it, and how to evaluate, use and communicate it in an ethical manner. To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. The International Bureau of Education (the International Comission on Education for the 21 st Century), UNESCO recommended curriculum based in competency with four pillars: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be. Information literacy has an important role for achieving them. |
