Isi artikel
To deconstruct implies to reconstruct. We all can think of numerous social work practices and ideas that are in need of reexamination, reevaluation, and refurbishment. Moreover, feminist social workers have the specific obligation to modernize our thinking to heighten our impact on social change. That we, like those in other liberal professions, have been noticeably lax in this duty need not faze us any longer. All of us fell victim to the right-wing revolution of 1980. Needing to survive, we naturally accommodated by jettisoning, toning down, or hopelessly compromising our rhetoric and practice. Unfortunately, as a result of chronic accommodation, we have lost sight of liberalism’s original purposes and promise. Thus, I call for an aggressive reconstruction of feminist social work theory and practice.
