The rogue wave serves as a useful metaphor for the assemblage of Christo-capitalism in the US today. Contemporary US capitalism defies Weberian logics in its involvement between ‘cowboy capitalism’ and evangelical Christianity – an assemblage of two heterogeneous forces that bring together the value of profit and the promise of Armageddon. This assemblage is consolidated by media publicists who construe entrepreneurs and corporations as legitimate imitations of God’s creativity on earth.
