Isi artikel
This article examines trans-local trade circuits associated with African cities. While Africans have struggled to implant themselves across different territories and to incorporate themselves within the ambit of citizenry and rights, African urban ‘implantations’ are also a means of configuring an extraterritorial mobility that prevents any easy identification of the African city as a diasporic site. Through an examination the experience of African migrants in the Bangkok Banlieue, the article’s conclusion is that such extensions to the African city suggest a capacity to act in concert – a capacity that cannot be framed in any analytical language.
