Isi artikelEducation contributes to development and reduces poverty. But is it so simple? The general assumptions of the international education community, have taken a beating in recent decades. Rapid educationel expansion and increased access to schooling have not systematically resulted in economic growth and reduced poverty. In fact, global economic disparities have increased. This is most evident in sub-Saharan Africa, but also in OECD countries where the problem of youth unemployment, even among the well-educated, remains a headache to policy-makers.
